Revive Me: An MMA Fighter’s Journey to Love and Healing

Revive Me by Nikki Castle

I applied for the ARC for this book through Chasing Books PR. Even though this is an ARC my review is 100% my true opinion.

Revive Me follows Roman, an MMA fighter who is about to have the biggest fight of his career, and Liliana, who is a Physical Therapist. Roman ends up with a spinal cord injury during his title match, leaving him unable to walk or fight. Fighting has been all Roman has known since he was a teenager, and he can’t fathom a life without it; he doesn’t know who he is without MMA. Roman has been to many PTs, but 2 years after his injury, he ends up at Liliana’s workplace, and it is up to her to get through to Roman and get him back on his feet. However, this wouldn’t be a romance book without the romance, would it, and Roman and Liliana fall for each other, but it’s complicated due to Roman being her patient.

“Why do you care if I do my physical therapy?”

“Because someone should”

I enjoyed this book a lot. I don’t know much about MMA or UFC, I do have knowledge of Physical therapy, being that I had to have Physical therapy after my coma to get me walking again, and i understood Roman’s feelings in regards to it. Physical Therapy will make even the calmest person want to rage. It is hard and brutal because it shows you how weak you have become, and you have to push yourself to limits you’ve probably never pushed yourself to before, just to walk yourself to the bathroom.

The writing style was clear and easy to read. It flowed really well and kept me immersed. I related to Roman, and I loved how Liliana dealt with him. I was of course very happy with the happy ever after, I am a sucker for a cute HEA.

The book is just over 300 pages, I believe, but you will fly through it. If you like a forbidden romance, with slow burn and a grumpy x sunshine trope, I think you will enjoy this book. I rated this 5 stars because it was just cute, well written and gave me feels.

Have you read this? If so, what did you think? If you haven’t read it, is it one you would add to your TBR?
