That Sik Luv: A Dark Tale of Love and Religion

That Sik Luv by Jescie Hall

This is a Dark Romance book, which follows Briony, who is a catholic (I believe) girl whose life very much revolves around her religion and her church. Briony has been taught that fornication is a sin and that sexual thoughts and actions are immoral. Briony has a stalker who brings out these feelings in her, and she is fighting with herself over what she has been taught and the way her stalker makes her feel. Aero is the demon who has been stalking her and showing her the truth of the church she lives for, along with the truth of the people around her. This book is dark, thrilling and sexy.

This book has many trigger warnings, some of which are stalking, religious trauma, degradation, depictions of violence/murder and many, many more. Make sure you read them unless you’re like me and you don’t really have any triggers.

She broke my fucking finger, and the blood instantly rushed to my groin.

My fiesty little bitch enjoys bringing me pain, and its entirely unfortunate for her that her little outbursts trigger me further.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved Aero’s absolute insanity and possessiveness; his story had rooting for him. He went through so much, and I wanted to protect him, and in my eyes, he wasn’t a villain, even though he killed multiple people. He was made into the killer he became, but one thing he did was protect Briony always, and that was just chefs kiss for me.

I had wanted to read this book for such a long time, but it was really hyped up, and that scared me and put me off picking it up. I do wish I had read it sooner, but on the other hand, now that the hype has calmed down, I feel like I am able to review it and not feel pushed to like it. I like it because I want to like it. If that makes any type of sense, haha.

I love an unhinged, possessive dark book boyfriend, and Aero is definitely that. I do hate his name, though, it makes me think of the chocolate bar.

As someone who has their own problems with religion, I could relate to Aero, I’ve never been catholic so the confession and stuff didn’t speak to me but the sickos hiding behind religion that i know about! If you are religious … well, I doubt you are reading this book, but if you are a kinky churchgoer you may want to skip this one, it is heavy on the religion and the bashing of religion.

I gave this book 5 stars, and I would definitely read another book by Jescie Hall.

Have you read this book, and if so, what did you think of it? If you haven’t read this book, do you want to?
