I downloaded this book because it was the bonus read for May’s Amazon First Reads, I didn’t know if I would ever read it but it was free so I downloaded it.
I have previously read the Housemaid Series by Freida McFadden and I enjoyed book 1 and 2, book 3 not as much but I wasn’t blown away by them enough to think about picking another one of her books up, I have some on my shelf but these were purchased before I read the Housemaid Series. Don’t get me wrong she isn’t a bad writer at all, just quite predictable I feel, but like I said I haven’t read any other books by her.
I had just finished a thriller that I didn’t enjoy and thought why not give this a try it’s only 79 pages.
This short story follows Talia, and she is on Death Row for killing her husband. This book flicks between past & present with a lot of the past moments happening in Talia’s dreams. All is not as it seems in the end. I don’t wish to ruin this for anyone, so I shall not say. However, I did not see the end coming at all, and I loved that I didn’t see it! I rated this short story 4 stars because it was quick and easy to read, and it kept me engrossed in what was happening, and also the ending completely blindsided me, and I love it when a thriller does that.
Now, will I pick up my other Freida McFadden books? Maybe, haha, it’s not that I wouldn’t read them, I’m just not in my thriller era unless there is a romance in there too. I did enjoy this short read, though, and if you haven’t already, make sure to download it on your Amazon First Reads!
