Madison Kate’s Journey: Love, Revenge, and Bad Boys

Hate by Tate James

The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover. That neon green and pink against the black just spoke to me. I had seen that my friends on TikTok had read the series, and I trusted their views. When I saw the set at a good price, I had to pick them up.

Hate is the first book in the four-book Madison Kate series. It is followed by Liar, Fake, and Kate. I believe these are reverse harem.

Anyway, book one, Hate. I have finished this today, the book follows our FMC, Madison Kate Danvers who has just arrived back in Shadow Grove after spending the last 8 months in Cambodia. Previously, she was in jail for 3 months for crimes she didn’t commit, and she was acquitted of all charges. Afterwards, her father sent her to stay with her Aunt in Cambodia. When Madison Kate arrives back home, she finds the 3 boys who framed her living in her house. Her father is away with his girlfriend who happens to be the mother of one of the boys who set her up. Madison Kate is hell set on revenge, but can’t help falling for the sculpted bad boys. On top of all this, Madison Kate has a stalker. This person is leaving threatening messages about anyone who touches her. They are also leaving creepy dolls dressed to look like her.

Probable spoilers ahead!

It took me a while to get into this book, but I don’t think that was the book’s fault. I am a mood reader, but this book made its way to my next in line through my bookopoly game. I wasn’t in the mood when I started it. However, at about 50% in, I really started to get into the book. I was glad I had picked it up. Madison Kate is a pretty badass FMC. She doesn’t back down. She stands up for herself. Even though she has given in to her sexual desires more than once where these boys are concerned, she still enacts her revenge.

The MMCs in this book are: Archer, Steele & Kody. Archer is like the leader and overall a grumpy fucker, he is constantly telling MK what to do in which she tells him to do one. Kody & Steele listen to Archer, I’m not fully sure on the back story of the 3 yet, and why they are so close, but I assume that will come in the following books. Archer is an MMA fighter who is debuting in the UFC.

Kody…okay first if all his name is Kodiak and that makes me think of the camera, every time MK says his full name I’m like click click camera noise in my head lol. Kody is flirty and cute and doesn’t seem to have boundaries, he just straight up kisses MK like he’s allowed to do that. He is a fitness trainer and trains Archer.

Steele is probably the cutest in my eyes. he seems super sweet, he plays piano, but there is some dark history with tha,t which I again assume will be revealed in the coming books. MK has kissed Archer and Kody, but Steele is the lucky one who has gone further with her.

I’m going to call it right now, I think that MK has been married to Archer. The boys said that they couldn’t force her to stay where they told her to or make her come home, but Archer could. hmmmmm

MK’s dad is a douche, I already dislike him and he hasn’t even really been in the book but he seems like a douche. He knew about MK’s stalker yet never informed the police! His daughter comes back after 8 months and he doesn’t even stay around to say hi he just fucks off on holiday with his girlfriend. Total douchecanoe.

The last 50%, especially the last 30%, has made me want to keep reading to see what is next, so I’m going to head straight into Liar next.

Have you read this series? If so, what are your thoughts?
