Last year, I decided to participate in the 12 months, 12 friends, 12 books challenge, where 12 friends recommend a book and you read one a month until the end of the year.
These are the books I was recommended, as we are in June, I have already completed half of the challenge. I will start with the 6 I have read first.
Beautiful Fiend by Lola King was recommended to me by my friend Debbie, whom I met on BookTok. I loved this book too!
Satanic Shadows by Leigh Rivers was recommended to me by another BookTok friend, Luutske. Again, I loved this book.
Fated Love by Jessica Kennett was recommended to me by my lovely friend Jessica, who is the author of this book, and I am so immensely proud of her!
The Guest House by Abbie Frost was recommended to me by my friend Lozzy. She was the first friend I made on BookTok, and it is through Lozzy that I got to know the other girlies I chat with daily. This was the first mystery/thriller I had read in a while, and I loved it.
The Consumed Trilogy by Brooklyn Cross was recommended by my beautiful friend Corina. Technically, I only needed one book, so I was going to read the first one and leave it at that, but I couldn’t stop reading! I have written a full blog post review of that trilogy.
Then this month, I read Our Thing by Nicci Harris, which was recommended to me by the Dark Romance queen herself, JD. I enjoyed this, and I am just about to write my review for it.
These next 6 are the ones I will read throughout the next 6 months.
Distorted by Nyla K, this was recommended to me by my gorgeous Irish sweetheart Nicola, and I am so excited to read this one!
By the Orchild and the Owl by Mariah Montoya, this was recommended by the fantasy goddess, Roni. I had not heard of this until Roni mentioned it, so super excited. She is a good friend, and her recs never let me down.
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. This was recommended by bookishgirl on TikTok, and then my friend Amy read it this year, and she loved it, so I’m quite excited for this. Although I mainly read dark romance and fantasy, and I don’t think it is either, I’m sure I will love it.
The Umbra King by Jamie Applegate Hunter. This was recommended by Katie. Katie was the reason I decided to get over my fears and start creating BookTok content, and she is so lovely and made me feel so welcome. Adore her!
Of Darkness and Ruination by Rachel Fallon. This one was recommended to me by the gorgeous Gemma, and I am so nervous to read this because I know Gem loves this one a lot.
The Hurricane Wars by Thea Guanzon. It was recommended to me by Ana. I have picked this up once and read a few pages, but didn’t know what the hell was happening and decided to put it down and come back to it when I was in a more concentrated headspace lol.
