The Woman In Me by Britney Spears
I’ve listened to Britney’s music ever since I can remember. I’ve always loved her music and wished I could be as sweet as her. I remember the Free Britney movement, and I thought the conservatorship was so wrong on all levels. When Britney released this book, I knew I wanted to read it; it just took me a little while to get to it.
I found it hard to rate this book, because how do you put a star rating on someone’s trauma?
I gave the book 5 stars in the end, not because it was the most beautifully written piece of work I’ve ever read, but because it took guts and courage to write this book. She laid out all her trauma for us to read, and showed us all the moments she was vulnerable. Would I have liked this to be more in-depth? Yeah, but at the same time, this would have been hard for Britney, having to relive these memories and share them with the whole world.
This book showed us how incredibly strong Britney is. It also showed us how disgusting her family is. I am glad Britney is in a happier place and that she has no contact with her family; she deserves better, and they should be ashamed of themselves!
I would love, hopefully one day, for Britney to write another book about her life in more depth, even if it’s more of a look at her good memories. One with pictures, too, would be great.
