Goldrage: The Epic Conclusion That Made Me Cry (And Want To Punch Lady Harrow!)

Goldrage by Aveline Knight

Goldrage is book 3 in the Chrysophilist series by Aveline Knight. I have been so super fortunate to ARC read each one in the series. You know a book is good if I sign up for the ARCs for the other books in the series every time they are released!

This is a trilogy, so you must start with book one, which is Goldsin, then book two, which is Goldflame and then this one. They each follow on from one another.

At the end of book 2, Julian had become just like his father. He shoots Adrian and Aurelia, leaving Aurelia with his mother while he takes Adrian away. Obviously, Lady Harrow, being the evil bitch she is, wants to torture Aurelia, who is weak from blood loss. Thankfully, she gets saved by someone I did not expect! Aurelia doesn’t know if Adrian is alive, and Adrian believes Aurelia to be dead. They need to get through to Julian that Lady Harrow is the monster here. Maybe Julian is too far gone to listen to reason? How can Aurelia get into the Harrow home without being shot on sight? By telling them she is pregnant with the next Harrow heir, but whose is it? Julians or Adrians?

Okay, first things first, because I have to say it or I will combust! I fucking hate Lady Harrow. There are not many characters that I strongly hate, but she is definitely in the top 10, quite possibly the top 5. Fuck I hateeeeee her!!!! Evil, conniving, manipulating waste of oxygen! She should have been swallowed or a stain on the bedsheet!

Okay, now that we have that out of the way, Julian.
Julian…Julian…Julian. I started to hate Julian when I read Goldflame. How could he hate his father so much and then turn around and act like him? How could he treat Aurelia like he did? I still disliked him at the beginning of this book, but then I understood him, and I felt empathy and sympathy for him. I wanted to save him as much as Adrian did. Julian had been manipulated by his mother all his life and unfortunately, he saw it too late, when all hope was gone. I cried near the end. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but I am glad Julian found the peace he was looking for. I just wish he could have seen all the manipulations sooner.

Adrian, I didn’t much care for him in book one; he was okay, but it was Julian I was drawn to and liked. Book two had me falling in love with Adrian, and that feeling stayed through book three. Adrian tried to be a good brother to Julian; he tried to protect him and be there for him. His love for Aurelia is just so beautiful; the man would literally die for her!

Aurelia found love, and she found peace. Her revenge cost her 2 people she loved dearly, and it cost her so much trauma, but in the end, she found her peace, and I love that for her. Aurelia got the ending she needed. I wish that the 2 lost souls could have been a part of that, but I’m glad she has found her happily ever after.

I have so many questions about Eleanora! Hopefully, we will get her book.

I feel like this series is so underrated. I don’t see it talked about on booktok and bookstagram and it needs to be!! It’s an amazing trilogy.

Thank you so much to Aveline Knight for sending me the ARC of this book.
