Sweet Doe is book 4 in the Wrecked series, but you only need to read Slaying for Sloan (book 3) before you read this one. You must read Slaying for Sloan first as Sweet Doe continues where Slaying for Sloan ends.
Sloan is in Holly Grove for the holiday’s meeting her boyfriend’s family. When Alex starts acting differently, he has a darker, more exciting side to him that Sloan loves, only she realises it isn’t Alex. It’s his twin brother Asher. It was a game that started in a lustful haze, that soon turned into fear when Asher takes Sloan deep into the mountains, hiding her away and keeping her for himself. Sloan wants to be angry, wants to be scared, but on one hand, he killed his own twin brother; on the other hand, he treats Sloan well, cares for her, cooks for her, and loves her. She knows she should run, but she finds herself not wanting to. Instead, she runs with Asher, away from the law and their families. Just the two of them against the world.
A severed fucking human hand, pale and lifeless, with a note tucked between the stiff fingers.

“You misunderstand,” he says, his voice calm and deadly. “This isn’t a request. This isn’t a negotiation. This is me telling you what’s going to happen.”
This book is fairly fast-paced, with it being a novella, but also with a lot of the action and buildup happening in book one. It was a comfortable pace, to be honest. Although Sloan did fall for Asher rather quick, but then again she wasn’t really in love with Alex anyway. I mean, she kind of was, but she didn’t like the way he wanted perfection and how much of an arse he was.
“What do you want from me?” I manage to whisper as he sets me down gently on the couch in front of the fireplace. He pauses in the act of gathering blankets, his eyes meeting mine with an intensity that makes me forget, momentarily, how cold I am. “Everything,” he says quietly. “Your love, your body, your soul.”
The book is definitely character-driven. I liked Sloan; she was a good character, and she was feisty but also smart. I mean, she chose to stay with the man who kidnapped her, but still. I liked Asher, to be fair, if I were Sloan I’d of stayed with him too haha. He was hot, intense and sexy.
“I don’t need you to fall, baby.” My tone drops to something thicker. Deeper. “I just need you to stay.
Like I said, a lot of the action and excitement happened in book one; this book was kind of Asher holding Sloan captive until she loved him back. He has a cabin in the woods, high up in the mountains, where he has stocked it with all her favourite products and food, which is just cute to be honest. Some might say creepy because he stalked her to find her favourite products, but to me, that’s dedication, haha.
This girl, this body, this bruised little heart that still beats for me after everything. She’s mine. She chose me. And I’ll never let her regret it.
The writing style was good. I like Melissa and Dana’s style, so I enjoyed that. I read Slaying for Sloan this time last year, and I loved that book a lot! When I saw that Sloan’s conclusion was coming in this book, I was stoked, but for me, this one didn’t hit the same. I don’t know if it’s because a lot of the action, spice and excitement happened in book one or because I read them so far apart. I think these would be better if it were one book, not split into two.
My family. My salvation. My sweet fucking doe.
Overall, I did enjoy myself while reading it.
I wouldn’t read it again, but I would recommend Slaying for Sloan and with that, this book, as it does have their conclusion.
Thank you, Melissa and Dana, for the ARC.
