Pump Two by J Cherry

Pump Two is a novella that follows Violet, who has just started a new job working in a gas station for the night shift. Here she meets Devon, whom she only knows as biker guy to begin with. Devon first comes in and gets $20 on pump two, but he instantly becomes enamoured with Violet and finds himself riding around so he can use up his gas and go back to the gas station to see her. Eventually, they get talking, but Devon never removes his helmet or his ski mask. When Violet eventually sees the man under the mask, will she still want him?
“Call her a name other than the one on her name tag, and I will shove one of those gasoline pumps so far down your throat, you will bleed from the inside out,” Biker Guy snarls. All initial calmness has completely evaporated from his being. “You’ll never be able to look at a pump the same way again…or be physically capable of complaining about one.”

This book was recommended to me by the lovely Taboo.and.tentacles.xo on Instagram for my 12 Friends…12 Months…12 Books challenge. I have been struggling to read this month with so much going on, so a cute novella was the perfect thing for me. This was a fun, cute read. The book was fairly fast-paced, but it wasn’t a bad thing. I will say that Devon spent about 80% of the book masked, which did feel like it was getting dragged out a little. This girl had been intimate with a man she still hadn’t’t seen…I mean, hot yeah…but 🤷🏻♀️
“My dirty fucking Violet.”
The book was character-driven, and I liked both characters; they were nice enough. Not characters I would think about after reading the book, though. There was some drama with a side character, which made me think we would have some twists and turns coming up for the MCs, but that didn’t happen. The side character drama felt kind of…out of place if that makes sense, like the author did nothing with it.
“If this is how wet you get for a stranger, you must be drowning the men you know,”
This is the first book I have read by J Cherry, I believe a side character has his own book or will be getting it & I may read it, becuase yes this book fell short in a few places but I still really enjoyed myself whilst reading it and at the end of the day thats why I read, for the vibes, the feels and the escape.
Would I recommend this book? Yeah, if you want a cute, fun, easy novella to read that is a bit kinky. It’s on KU as well, so girl math means it’s free to read 🤪
