Slaughter Park by Lauren Biel

Slaughter Park is book 4 in the Slaycation series by Lauren Biel. They are technically standalones but are best to be read in order so you get the full picture. Book 1 is Sinners Retreat, Book 2 is Slay Ride, Book 3 is Ship Happens, and Book 4 is Slaughter Park. The sad news is that there is only one more book after this.
Slaughter Park follows Quinn and Aven, the latter of whom is Quinn’s bodyguard, a job he took from Jim (if you’ve read the others, you know Jim). Quinn is a cam girl who has gotten herself a killer stalker, not the good kind. Aven is tasked with keeping Quinn safe & when her stalker gets too close, the only option Jim sees available is to bring Quinn to the annual serial killer retreat, which this year is being held at an old abandoned theme park that Jim bought and improved on. Slaughter park…a theme park of deathly rollercoasters, roaming serial killers who become family, a sexy as sin bodyguard and a stalker out for blood. This book is full of banter, dark humour and romance.
“If at any point you want this to stop, you need to say the safeword”
“Who the fuck picked pineapple?”
“It’s a long and very weird story. I’ll tell you all about it later.”

“I mean, you don’t want her around all the murder anyway.” Jim’s lips pinch together as he fights a smile.
“Say it again.”
“Huh?”
“Better yet, say purple burglar alarm!”
“Oh, for fuck’s sake. Are you going on about my accent again? You cannae focus on anything. Ach!”
I absolutely love the Slaycation series; they have become my comfort books, I think. They have everything: dark humour, banter, spice, murder, other darkness, and swoon-worthy romance. I believe Lauren does an amazing job with these books; the way they are written brings you into the characters’ world. I legit laugh out loud reading these, then get on the phone to my aunty so we can talk about them.
So much so, right, I am on Lauren’s influencer team because I love her writing. A perk of this team is to read her books before they are released. I knew my aunty was waiting for this book to come out after I made her read the other 3 books, so when I received the ARC, I had to call my aunty and wind her up, showing her that I had something she didn’t. I mean, I wouldn’t be doing a good job as a niece if I didn’t, would I? What does my aunty do? She goes crying to Lauren on Instagram DMs, and Lauren lets her have the ARC too, haha.
I’ve seen her pussy more often than her gynecologist at this point. But it’s different in person.
I like how they are paced, there is action, but not tonnes. At the end of the day, it is a romance book. I like that even though these guys are serial killers, they are not monsters, and I guess you see the human side of them, if that makes sense lol. I think my favourite part has to be the humour; each of these characters is hilarious in their own way. Aven has the best internal monologue in this book. I also liked how Lauren wrote his dialogue in a way that made you read it in a Scottish accent & I cannot wait for the audiobook to come out so I can listen to Aven :P. I liked Quinn and Aven’s dynamic, the whole liking each other and reminding themselves why they shouldn’t until that fuck it moment.
My friends, I believe we’ve just witnessed the birth of a monster.
Each of these books has been set in a different location, & I love that, it’s a retreat, but they switch it up each time, which keeps it interesting seeing what murder games they have in store. If theme parks and rollercoasters didn’t scare me before, they do now, haha. The setting was awesome for this book. I really enjoyed the creative killing methods and Quinn coming into her own as a serial killer. I didn’t think I would ever root for someone to become a killer…only in the books I’m reading. Real-life ones make me sick to my stomach. Fiction is not real…just because I read it doesn’t mean I want it in real life.
I try my best to hoist the tiny dead woman from our boat. It would be a lot easier without the terrified lass screaming bloody murder against my ball bag, but no matter.
Overall thoughts:
I freaking love this book series so much, and I think you should 100% read this book. I don’t even think I could say a bad word about these books if I had a gun to my head.
It will be released on 15th February and is available for pre-order now. I believe the audiobook will be out in about a month or two, but don’t quote me on that.
Thank you, Lauren, for the ARC.
