Wrecking Ball follows Kat & Nate. Nate is a crime lord, and Kat owes him money that she can’t pay up, thanks to her ex gambling it all away and then running away, leaving Kat to deal with the mess. Nate gives her an ultimatum: marry him or die. It isn’t much of a choice, and Kat, not willing to die, decides to marry him, but she refuses to fall in love with him.
I want to own you, command you and break you. I want you to need me like you have never needed anyone before. I want to be your everything and more.

•Enemies to lovers •Mafia •Forced Marriage •Forced Proximity •Touch her and die •Dark Romance

I couldn’t find any trigger warnings in the book. Off the top of my head, there is:
•Graphic Sex Scenes •Violence •Attempted Rape •SA •Murder •Cursing •Forced Marriage
I was recommended this book by Nikki J Summers, as part of my 12 Authors…12Months challenge. I was meant to read this book in March…but I ended up spending March doom-scrolling and fighting fatigue. I made it the first book I read in April to make up for being a bit late with it, haha.
I hadn’t actually heard of Lindsey Powell before, so it’s great to have been introduced to a new author and one in the UK too woo.
This book was set in the UK, which I really liked since so many of the books I read are set in America. It was nice having one set in my home country. I don’t know if the book was fast-paced or not. I mean, I guess it was in a way. I did feel at times that it was a bit repetitive, the same things being told more than once when they didn’t need to. Otherwise I quite liked the pace of the book.
He made it.
He came for me.
He saved me.
It was definitely character-driven, focusing on Nate and Kat. I liked both of them and Zoey, Nate’s sister. Nate is a crime lord; he is ruthless and doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty. He doesn’t love or have weaknesses until he meets Kat. He knows he wants her the first time he meets her. Kat is feisty; she has a “potty mouth”, as Nate says. Kat is thrust into a world she doesn’t think she belongs in, but proves herself to be stronger than she thinks multiple times. I love the push & pull between Nate & Kat, their chemistry is explosive, and you can’t blame them for falling in love with chemistry that good. I also liked Zoey, she is cheeky, playful and doesn’t give a shit.
I quite liked the writing style, except that it was sometimes repetitive. It was easy to follow and flowed fairly well.
Overall thoughts:
I enjoyed it, I didn’t love it, but I did like it.
I would probably read more by this author, but wouldn’t be in a rush to get them on my TBR. The storyline was good, I liked the characters and the setting. There was just something for me that was lacking in the writing style.
