Cute and Playful: Accidentally Yours Review

Accidentally Yours by Christina Lauren

Accidentally Yours is an Amazon original story, it is a short novella that follows Veronica and Jude. Veronica is looking for a job, and clicks a link to what she thinks is a job interview, she accidentally joins a marketing Zoom call. When she realises instead of leaving she brutally tells them how bad she thinks their marketing is, then leaves. Jude loves her honesty and the feedback she gave. He emails her offering her a marketing consulting position, what started as emails regarding work, soon turned flirtatious.

I’ve been wanting to read, and I have so many books on my TBR, but, believe it or not, none of them have been speaking to me. So I put a post on threads asking for cute, short boss x employee romance recs. If you’re not following me on threads, then please do it, it’s where I ask for recommendations haha my handle is @letty_reads. Anyway, this book was recommended to me and I saw that it was less than 100 pages and I thought why not. It would hopefully scratch the itch of a boss x employee romance and get me back to wanting to read my TBR.

Veronica is communicating with Jude on email, they end up flirting neither of them know what the other one looks like. They also both live in an apartment building…you see where this is heading. Anyway I won’t spoil it.

This book was cute, Veronica is funny, playful and all around a sunny person. Jude is also quite happy, but stressed being thrown into the position of CEO after his brothers accident. He wants to get the company performing well, which is why he hires Veronica. There is a level of miscommunication in this book, but it was rather cute when Jude found out who she was.

I liked both characters, they were nice and cute. I am saying cute a lot, but thats what this story was, cute and funny.

The writing style was okay, half of the book was the emails back and forth between them, but I didn’t mind that I actually love email and text conversations in books. They finally got their date which happened to be on Valentines day…cliche? Maybe. Cute? Definitely.

Overall thoughts:
This book was cute, there wasn’t much substance to any of it, other than playful cute characters who go on a first date. The writing was well enough, not mind blowing and not immersive, but it made me laugh and got me reading when I feel like I’m in a slump. Would I run to read more by this author? Nah, probably not. Did it scratch the itch…kinda…a little…not fully. But I do feel productive having read a book, even if it was under 100 pages. It still counts and that makes me happy, plus the book made me smile. Good vibes all around.
