“Dark Desires” Audiobook Review: An Extra Steamy Standalone in the McGowan Mafia Series

Dark Desires by Effie Campbell

18+ Contains Adult Content

Dark Desires is book four in the McGowan Mafia series. It is a standalone, and you don’t need to have read the others to read this one. It follows Valentina, who is a cam girl and Logan, who is a mafia boss. Logan is engaged to Nicole, not because he loves her, but because marrying her will merge the two mafia families together and be good for business. Logan, bored and restless one night, signs onto a cam girl website where he sees Cherry. He can’t stop thinking about her after they have a cam session together, one where he doesn’t show his face; he is well known in Scotland after all. Imagine his surprise when he sees Cherry, or should I say Valentina, at his engagement party, even more surprised when his fiancée introduces her as her cousin. Valentina recognises Logan from his tattoos and his voice; she was obsessed with him before she saw his face, by the way he dominated her and now, after seeing him in the flesh, she can not and will not settle for anyone less than Logan.

Veradel by Mariah Montoya and Grace Pearce

Verde is book 2 in the Guardians and Monsters Duology, Xantera, which I read last month (review here), is book one. Veradel follows straight on from where we left off in Xantera. Now I know Xantera hasn’t been out long, so I will do my best to not spoil that book with what I tell you about this one, but there will be some spoilers. This duology is a vampire, werewolf dystopian duology. Where 12 vampires rule the “utopian” Xantera, while its rightful King is known as the monster beyond the wall. Saskia has been speaking mind to mind with the “monster” and learning the truth about Xantera and its guardians. When Saskia falls from the top of the wall, she comes face to face with the so called monster Lucan. Together, they fight to save Xantera.

Blood & Throttle: A Dystopian Death Race of Love and Survival

Blood & Throttle by Nova Kane

18+ Contains Adult Content

I started November off strong with my first ARC of the month, Blood & Throttle, which follows Sienna ‘Sin’ Vega and Riot Carter. This book is set in the future in a dystopian world, where the streets run red with bloodshed in The Gauntlet, a brutal death race. There are no rules in the gauntlet; you win or you die. Sienna is forced into the gauntlet to pay for a crime she is being framed for. She has a chance of freedom by winning, but Sienna doesn’t submit, and the men in the gauntlet don’t like that. She has a target painted on her back, a busted-up motorbike, and sheer stubbornness to make it to the finish line. Riot Carter is the reigning champ, the legend known as the Reaper. He’s got the fastest bike and is a weapon in his own right. Riot doesn’t care for other racers, but when he sees Sienna, he knows she is different, and he claims her as his. It becomes a full-time job trying to protect her, a job that puts a target on his back too. Blood & Throttle is being released on 12th November and is available for pre-order now.

Meet Luna Peters: A Rising Star in Romance Fiction

For all my author interviews so far, I have slid into authors’ DMs, and each time, I have been terrified of rejection. This time, I had the beautiful Luna Peters contact me through the contact form on my blog to ask if I was willing to interview a baby author, and too bloody right I am! I got so giddy that she wanted to be on my blog, not even gonna lie, I did a little happy dance and smiled like an absolute tool.

I had a little stalk of Luna’s social media profiles, which is normal, right?

I haven’t yet read Luna’s books, so this interview was super exciting for me. I had a gander at her socials and then compiled my questions. I then went to AATA, and Luna was there, which was absolutely awesome that I got to meet her.

My Experience at Leeds’ Biggest Book Event AATA25

On the 25th of October, I attended Authors At The Armouries in Leeds. This was the biggest book event I have ever been to. To be fair, it was also my second ever one, haha. My first being Authors Behind Bars in Shrewsbury last November. Unless meeting Tulisa at a Waterstones signing counts, if so, it was my third, not second lol.

The Halloween Harvesters Return: Can’t Stop by Lauren Biel Review

Can’t Stop by Lauren Biel

Can’t Stop is a sequel to Don’t Stop. It follows Rayna and Dalton, who find their way to a small town which is full of death and dead things. Which really Rayna should love, but even she thinks that something is not right and is creeped out. When they meet the crazy family who wishes to sacrifice Dalton and use Rayna to “wake” their son, things go from creepy to murderous fun for the Halloween Harvesters.
