Tragically Yours by Jamie Applegate Hunter
“Tragically Yours is a dual POV standalone fantasy romance with a romance-heavy plot & simple world building. It is a fast-paced, easy read.”
Tragically Yours is book 3 in Jamie’s Fae Kings of Eden series; they are all standalones that can be read in any order, though. This book follows Dean, who is the fae Prince and then later on the King of the Garden Kingdom, and Fawn, who is half human, half fae. Dean is a full bloodied fae and a royal one at that. On the 13th birthday, the royal fae are whispered the name of their mate. There mate who will have been born on the same day as him, traditionally, royals find their mates at 13 and bring them straight to their kingdom to keep them safe. Dean, however, cannot find his mate; he can feel her through the bond until the bond goes silent. His father then delivers the news of her death.
I hope you’re a good man. Because if you’re not, I’ll have no problem burying you beneath a pile of shit where you belong.

Fawn visits her grandparents for a week in the fae lands, not thinking she would be there long enough for it to awaken her very weak fae magic; however, it does. So at 14, Fawn and her parents decide it’s safer to move to the Mountain Kingdom and live on the grandparents’ ranch. Unfortunately, rebels attack and Fawn is left without her parents. This is when Dean feels the bond go silent and believes Fawn to be dead. She is not, but she is overtaken by grief that she shuts off all her emotions.
We’re mind linked. I hear what you hear.
Can you read?
I’m going to break your ribs when you return home. No I cannot read.
Dean sometimes feels Fawn through the bond and believes his father to be wrong, that she is still alive. He cannot go looking for her until he becomes King. Through fate, Dean hears Fawn laugh, and feels it through the bond. He’s found his mate, and he will do anything to keep her safe; he will shackle her to him if needs be. Someone wants Fawn dead and will send as many people as needs be for this to happen, so Dean, being the sane, logical man he is, decides that she will not ever leave his eyesight, then no one can kill her.
No one would take her from him, and if they tried, they would arrive in hell one piece at a time.
This was a really cute, easy read. It was very fast-paced, but I quite enjoy that from time to time, when I just want to sit down and feel some good vibes and love. I liked Dean, he was charming, but also quite cocky, but that kind of cocky that is a bit sexy. If I were Fawn, I’d be whisked away by him, too. I also liked Fawn, in that she was half human, and she felt like she wasn’t enough, but she wasn’t going to let anyone push her around and make her feel less. Half human or not, she still put her mate in his place when he needed it! I liked her sass, too. I loved Dean’s familiar Cassandra; she has a dry, witty humour, and she made me laugh many times.
Thank you Jamie for the ARC
