Eat Your Heart Out is a horror romance that follows Brynne, also known as Cherry. The book starts 3 years before, when she was attacked, and life as she knew it ended. She didn’t let it kill her, though; she let it change her into the woman she is now. A woman hellbent on revenge and ridding the world of evil men one at a time. Whilst also partaking in her favourite hobby of baking. She never expected to find love, though.
The trigger list for this book is looong, read it! Also, don’t eat while reading this.
This book is coming out on February 14th and will be a perfect Valentine’s read for everyone, those in love and those who want to kill all men 🙂
I am going to fight because I never fucking asked for this.

Now you know why I drew myself holding a long list for my Trigger Warning picture, haha. Also, is drew the right word…now you know why my drawing I did of myself is me holding a looong list…is that grammatically correct? fucks knows I’m just a girl 😛
“That’s the thing about me, pookie. I’m never wrong, and I never fucking forget.”
Ooookay, where to start with this one, haha. My aunty saw the ARC sign-ups and the trigger list and immediately called me to ask if I was signing up, so off I toddled to read the trigger list while she was on FaceTime, and we were both going oooo, ewwww, ahh, argh, and I immediately signed up.

Before you start the story, we get Brynne’s recipe for Cherry Pie, and immediately, I knew I was not eating while I was reading, I was for once going to take the author’s advice and stay away from food because what do you mean 1 cup of sugar (with the additional spoonful of skin flakes) excuse me ma’am skin flakes! 🤢 I would like to say that is the only part of the recipe that made me go ewww, but I would be lying. This is one person’s house I would never eat at 😂
“Shhh, now,” I coo. “Mummy is meal prepping.”
So the book was quite fast-paced, which I enjoyed. You know me by now, I’m a sucker for a good novella. The romance was also quite fast, in that it is insta-love, which is not a trope I read much of, to be honest. The first chapter is set 3 years prior, and it is the night Brynne was attacked. This was a heavy chapter to read, which is contrasted by the next 5 chapters that had me howling while also saying ew.
What is it with guys calling me crazy? Like babe, I never said that I wasn’t. Dickhead.
The book is character-driven, focusing on Brynne and Kincaid. I liked Brynne. She went through something no woman or man, for that matter, should have to go through. You should be able to walk around in you rbirthday suit and be left alone. No one has the right to touch you without your consent. Rather than letting this destroy her, Brynne decides to destroy the evil scum who hurt women instead. I can’t say I disagree with her philosophy on it. I can say that pickling penises is a bit weird, but you do you, boo. Kincaid has his own trauma that he has been through, which we see in flashbacks, and that turned my stomach and made me want to go in and protect the little boy. No child should ever have to suffer that abuse. Kincaid got his revenge, and again, I don’t blame him. Again, disclaimer, I do not condone murder in real life. Anyway, I liked both characters and was happy they found each other.
I want to taste every inch of you. I want your whole body shaking as I take you to the pearly gates of heaven, and then right back down to hell with me, where you belong.”
“Chin up love, you’re dribbling.”
This is the first book by JN that I have read. I also have Crawl Space by her on my TBR for this year. I enjoyed her writing style; it flowed well and was easy to read. It also had me laughing out loud and texting my aunty with quotes that had me cracking up. This book was also verrrry smutty & sometimes too much smut puts me off because I get bored if they are banging every other page, but I didn’t feel that way once with this book, I actually enjoyed how smutty it was. Safe to say I am really looking forward to reading Crawl Space, and having a look at what else JN has written.
“Play dead for me, love. And don’t worry, I turned the hob off.”
Overall thoughts
I really enjoyed reading this, the humour and the banter made this all the more fun to read, along with the weird as fuck gore and cooking. If you like unhinged reads that make you laugh, you will like this. I would recommend it to all my dark lovers out there.
Thank you, J.N. Bamforth, for the ARC.
