I received an advanced copy of this book at no charge. This is my honest, voluntary review.

The Neighborly Thing To Do follows Cassidy and Finn. Cassidy is a human living in Hearthstone, a supernatural town. After sending her younger sister off to college, Cassidy is confronted by the town’s bylaws, which state that she can’t stay in the town unless she is legally connected to a supernatural creature. Finn is Cassidy’s neighbour, who is known as the grumpy recluse artist gargoyle. He’s watched Cassidy give up everything to raise her younger sister, and he is not going to stand by and let her be kicked out of town. If she is connected to a supernatural creature, she can stay…so if Finn marries Cassidy…

•Supernatural Romance •Marriage of convenience •Gargoyle x Human •Age Gap •Single Guardian •Grumpy MMC

Cassidy’s father was a shifter, and her mother is a human. Cassidy was born human, and thus had to live in the human towns, and her father came to see her a couple of times a year. He remarried and had another child; this child, Cassidy’s sister Georgia, was a shifter like their dad. Unfortunatley Georgia’s parents died, leaving Cassidy to look after her younger sister. Thus, coming back to Hearthstone and living among the supernatural. For ten years, Cassidy raised Georgia in Hearthstone. Did she know how to raise a child? No. Did she know how to raise a child that could shift into an owl? Heck no. Did that ever stop her from doing her very best by Georgia? Also no. Cassidy was only 19 when her father and Georgia’s mother died. She had completed one semester of college but dropped it all to raise Georgia, the little sister she met for the first time at her dad’s funeral. Georgia was only 8 at the time, and Cassidy did everything she could to raise her right.

Finn asks Cassidy to marry him, which is a shock for Cassidy, but he explains it’s to help keep her in town. Cassidy agrees, and they get married…however, the mayor decides to call a town vote on whether or not Cassidy gets to keep the house her father left her or if her uncle should be able to buy it. In the weeks that lead up to the town vote, Cassidy and Finn are trying to convince the town that they are in love and that Cassidy should stay. Along the way, they do fall in love. The marriage may have started as a marriage of convenience, but hearing Finn call her wife gives Cassidy all manner of feelings, and Finn…Finn is head over heels for his wife.

Okay, I’m gonna say it…I never thought I would be attracted to a gargoyle, but Finn…he’s delicious. He is sweet, caring & filthy when he wants to be. The way he loves Cassidy is just beautiful. He has such a big, kind heart. Cassidy is so strong; she has lived for years in a place where she is so different from everyone else around her, but that never stopped her from showing up and being an incredible role model for her younger sister. The fact that she left her whole life behind to care for Georgia, a sister she had never met, says a lot about her as a person. I love that she fought for her home and her sister. I love her and Finn together; they work so well.

I liked this book a lot; it wasn’t a huge twisty plot. It was just cute. It had elements of whimsy and magic and made me yearn to live in a supernatural town. I’d want the powers too. The story itself was just cute, I don’t know how else to say it other than cute, cute, cute lol. It was easy to read and flowed really well. I loved the characters and the setting of the book. It was a nice change of pace from the darker books I read. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a cute supernatural romance.
