Sinners Retreat Review: A Hilarious Serial Killer Romance

Sinners Retreat by Lauren Biel

I have read a few of Lauren Biel’s books; the first one I ever read was Captured, which is very dark! I still can’t look at mayo the same. Today, I have finished the first book in Lauren’s Slaycation series, Sinners Retreat.
Is it dark?
Well, they are serial killers; they are at a resort for a serial killer annual event where they get to play bowling using people’s heads, but other than that aspect, no, it’s not dark. It had me laughing out loud many times. It is a dark rom-com, and spoiler alert, I loved it!

Interview with Kinsley Kincaid: Insights from the Queen of Taboo Romance

So I recently slid into the DMs of one of my favourite authors asking if we could do a sort of interview, totally casual I would send her the questions and she could respond when she had time and a couple of days later I had her email with her answers and I am smiling like a loon.

So, who is the author? If you follow my social media, you will know my favourite author is Kinsley Kincaid, the Queen of taboo romance!

Let’s jump straight into these questions.

Support Rising Indie Authors: Your Next Favorite Read

I saw a post on threads where the creator asked Indie Authors to leave their promotional graphics in the replies for them to share, and I thought this was a fabulous idea. I also wanted to do the same. As I type this, I am receiving a fair number of replies, and so I have decided (where possible) to make this a regular post. I will create a blog post promoting indie authors’ works. So get your pens ready to add these books to your TBR.

I have not read the books on the list, so I cannot comment on what I think of them. However, I am making them available to you so that you can read them if you choose.

Exploring Kinsley Kincaid’s Sweet Sin Slaughterhouse: A Sapphic Erotic Horror Tale

Sweet Sin Slaughterhouse by Kinsley Kincaid

Sweet Sin Slaughterhouse is the newest release by Kinsley Kincaid, and when I say newest, I mean BRAND NEW out today. This is NOT a dark romance; it is an erotic horror and is part of the Devils Society series. It is a standalone in the series, but I recommend you read them in the following order:

Ballet Slippers and Bad Boys: Why Cassidy Can’t Resist Max’s Dangerous Charm

Our Thing by Nicci Harris

I think I mentioned this in a previous blog post, but last year I decided to participate in the ‘12 Months, 12 Friends, 12 Books‘ challenge, where 12 of my friends on BookTok gave me a book recommendation, and I would read one a month until the end of the year. I will link to a post about the challenge here.

Our thing was recommended to me by my friend Jodie, well technically she recommended the Kids of the District series, and I think this is book one, so it counts lol. Previous to Jodie recommending this, I hadn’t heard of the series. I had read 2 novellas by Nicci Harris, but not from this series.

Timber by Tate James: The Epic Conclusion of the Hades Series

Timber by Tate James

Timber is the 4th and final book in the Hades series, and when I say that I am sad right now that this is over, I’m not even being dramatic. I think I’m grieving.

As with the others, this book follows on exactly where book 3 ends. We think Zed is in the FBI, and Hades has been arrested.

Exploring the Drama and Secrets in Club 22 by Tate James

Club 22 by Tate James

I have just finished this book and headed straight upstairs to my computer to write this review. 1, so I remember everything, and 2, because I feel like there is a lot to unpack in this one.

This book picks up where book 2 ended, Hades has just shot Cass because he has been working with Chase and dealing with PCP. We see Cass’ funeral and the reapers transitioning to the control of Roach.
