Overdose by Nova Kane *ARC Review*
Releases August 15th

Overdose follows Blair, who is looking for her missing twin, Brynn. Brynn used to love going to raves and getting high, and to feel closer to her. Blair, in order to get answers about her sister, gets into the underground rave scene, spending most of her time high and looking for the next fix. She soon finds herself in a tug of war between a devilishly tempting, bike riding drug dealer and a brooding, skilled DJ. Blair finds her answers, but not in the way she wanted to. This book has an unconventional happy ending.
Something happened to her. Something worse than what they’re willing to believe, and I’m going to prove it.

Whenever I see that Nova Kane has ARCs open, I dive on them! I have yet to read a bad book by Nova, and this was no exception. The rave scene isn’t something I am familiar with, nor are drugs, but Nova did a good job of making me feel like I knew what they felt like, in the way I was able to understand what Blair was feeling when high, even though I have never experienced it.
My surroundings are still a blur of grime and chaos. Cracked tiles. Graffiti bleeding down the walls. A mattress in the next room that looks like it’s seen more trauma than therapy ever could.
I liked Blair; she was feisty and sarcastic. She had balls, and I love an FMC who is sarcastic and bratty, who stands up for themselves. I have the sarcastic bit down, my husband would argue I have the bratty bit down too, but what does he know! The standing up for myself…Yeah, I don’t have that down. Maybe one day. Anyway side side-tracked there, I like Blair.
Dagger is one of our MMCs and my favourite of the 2, I know you shouldn’t have favourites but I do. He is all dark, leather, biker bad boy, and I’m here for it! Noir is MMC number 2 and he is a brooding, locked in his head kind of guy and don’t get me wrong, I like him, but Dagger is my favourite!
I like watching people take things they shouldn’t. And I haven’t decided yet if I want to save you…or watch you burn
The relationship did move quite quickly, as these two were willing to die for a girl they had only known for a relatively short amount of time. However, perhaps they became so attached so quickly because she reminded them of a sister. I don’t want to give anything away, so that is a bit vague, apologies.
I enjoyed the writing style and the characters very much. The ending….we must talk about the ending because…what. the. fuck. Unconventional HEA, for sure! This isn’t a they ride into the sunset together HEA. It kind of leaves room for another book, and I hope there is, but I think Nova will leave us hanging. Blair does learn what happened to her sister, but is left questioning everything else. Was it real? She gets the answer to that at the end, and it’s game on, boys!
I have to admit the ending leaves me feeling like I’ve had my starter, I’ve had my main, but no dessert. I really wanted a 3-tier dessert 😂
Thank you, Nova, for sending me the ARC of this book.
