My Favorite Books of August: Ratings and Reviews

I read 9 books in August, all of them apart from one were Kindle books, so much for me trying to read my physical TBR 😂 The one book that wasn’t a Kindle book was an audiobook 😂

This is what I read in August and my opinions, full reviews can be found on my blog, apart from 2, which I will get around to writing reviews for 😂

I started off with an ARC, which was The Heat Cure by Addison James. This was a new author for me, and I haven’t read many Omegaverse books either. So it was a whole new everything, really lol. I enjoyed every minute of reading this and gave it 4.5 stars with 2.5 for spice.

My next book was also an ARC; this one was Overdose by Nova Kane. I enjoyed this; again, it was something new for me, as it was a rave setting. I’m also super glad to see that this is going to be a trilogy. I didn’t know that at the time of reading this and was a bit bummed at the ending, but now I get it!! I rated this 4 stars and 2 for spice and I’m looking forward to book 2.

I then read Myers by Zepphora. I originally found this book because I was searching for authors who began with Z for my author alphabet challenge. I downloaded it and forgot about it, then when I was scrolling through my Kindle hoping for something to pop out, this did. The Halloween films are some of my favourite films, and I really enjoyed this book. I gave it 4 stars and 3 for spice.

I then had another ARC to read, which was Enchanted by Emilie Ocean. This was a second edition book, which the author had reworked slightly. I hadn’t read the original, but I enjoyed this one. It was easy to read, fun and kept me wanting to turn the page. I rated this one 4 stars and 2 for spice.

Then the day I had marked in my calendar arrived! 14th August 2025, the release of Tulisa Contostavlos’ book Judgement, Love, Trials and Tribulations. As a big N-Dubz fan, I pre-ordered this the moment I could. I pre-ordered the signed copy, but I also pre-ordered the audiobook, so whilst I sat waiting for the postman to deliver my book, I was listening to the audiobook. I enjoyed every second of this book. I laughed and I cried! I am biased because in my eyes, Tulisa can do no wrong, but a friend of mine who didn’t know who Tulisa was read the book and loved it! I rated it 5 stars!

After reading Enchanted, I started Desperate Run by C.J. Riggs and M.L. Burns, and I read about 20% of it. Then, Tulisa’s book arrived, and I dropped everything to listen to that. The day after, I picked up Desperate Run again and didn’t put it down until I finished it. I devoured it! It had everything I love: a creepy setting, sexy men, unhinged behaviour, revenge and love. I rated it 5 stars and 4 for spice.

I then read another ARC, this was Little Author by SK Pryntz, which was my first book by this author. I didn’t fall in love with this book, but I did enjoy myself while reading. I rated it 3.5 stars and 2 for spice.

I then needed to read a book off my 12 friends…12 months…12 books challenge. So I read By the Orchid and the Owl by Mariah Montoya. This book was everything!! I am obsessed. I loved every single minute. I did not want to put this book down. I wanted to jump into the pages and live in this book! I rated it 5 stars and 1 for spice.

I then couldn’t decide if I was going to read my next ARC or the second book in the Esholian series. I chose the second book; I couldn’t get Rayna and Coen out of my head. So I jumped into By the Moonbeam and the Mist by Mariah Montoya. Again…OBSESSED!!! I need the next book. I rated this 5 stars and 1 for spice.

I think I had a good reading month.

My Top Five for this month were
📚By the Orchid and the Owl
📚By the Moonbeam and the Mist
📚Judgement
📚Desperate Run
📚The Heat Cure
